Be The Change

One of my favorite quotes of all time is, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” That’s by Gandhi. If you think about that, it’s so true. we often try to change other people when we, in fact, should just be worried about ourselves because at the end of the day, we really can’t change anybody but us.

So, I see this all the time when I’ll have a client come in, a new client come in and it’s either the husband or the wife and we’ll be talking along like, “Oh, I really wish my husband would come in. I really wish my wife would come in.” I always tell them first, I said, “Look, I always find a lot of times if you lead by example and you change yourself and they see the positive change that you’ve made in your health and your fitness and just your overall energy levels, that they might take a clue and might want to try it as well.”

So, I always tell them, first and foremost, “Let’s just take care of you first and let’s see if they come along.” Another interesting thing is that I was … I overheard two women in the lobby just a couple of weeks ago and they conversing back and forth and the one woman said, “Yeah, I really wish my husband would do it.” She’s like, “You know what I do?” She’s like, “We do these mastery cards.”

We always educated our clients trying to help them, Kaizen, constant steady improvement, teach them about this thing we call high intensity strength training. She’s like, “You know what I do with these mastery cards? I leave them out and hopefully he’ll read them. It’s like leaving breadcrumbs along the way so that maybe he’ll be inspired himself. He’s seeing the change in me and maybe reading some of the literature that they put out might just sparked that flame.”

The other woman said, “You know what? It’s so funny because the newsletters that they send, I make him read them. I say, he always asked, ‘What are you doing over there?’ I said, ‘Well, here, read this.'” So, it’s great that they’ve taken the information that we’re giving them the external things and like leaving the breadcrumbs or just forcefully giving it to them.

Look, if you want to inspire your significant other or a friend or family member to change, an awesome way you could do that is just give them a little nudge. We always offer a free initial consultation demo workout. They can come, test it out, no obligation, and you never know. That little nudge might be the thing that pushes them over, but more importantly, you leading by example of changing your health and fitness is the most inspiring thing you can do.
